Capital Jet Services at TransPolar08

Posted 16th of February, 2009

“Dear Peter / Capital Jet Services

On behalf of TransPolar08, we are grateful that Capital Jet Services can now be counted among the very best to help our mission meet its goal. Your ground handling expertise is of the highest importance to our success.

As you may know from our earlier contact, on 8th of November at 0800utc the TransPolar08 Bombardier Global Express HB-JEX will depart from TAG Farnborough Airport (EGLF) near London. Its' goal will be to establish a new round-the-world flight record crossing both North and South Poles along a single route.

Arrival of the TransPolar08 aircraft at Capital Jet Services is anticipated on the 09th November 2008 at 1010utc / 2310 local time. Each turnaround along the route will be like a Formula One pit stop. The flight's ability to maintain the necessary target speed will depend entirely on the fastest stopover times. We will provide you with as much real-time flight information and support as possible including a TAG on-site representative, Beverly Longbotham, to be our liason with your team beginning 5th November.

The current transpolar flight record was set in 1977 by Pan Am 747SP. Ours will be the first attempt to beat it in a business aircraft. HB-JEX will also carry new technology to help learn more about the effects of cosmic radiation at flight cruising altitudes.

It is an honour to have your commitment as TransPolar08 attempts to write a new page in aviation's history book. If we are fortunate enough to succeed, it will be a triumph shared with you.

Best regards,
Jane van Huyssteen”
